Luna lithium project

An early-stage lithium brine exploration project on the northeastern edge of the Salar de Atacama, home to the world's largest high-grade lithium brine operations. Surface sampling shows strong lithium, potassium and boron anomalies over the core claims.

Why the northern Salar de Atacama

The Salar de Atacama hosts the largest and highest-grade lithium brine reserves in the world. Its northern edge, where Luna sits, is the first area to receive lithium-, potassium- and boron-rich waters carried by the San Pedro River from the El Tatio geyser field.

Li

Lithium: main target

Strong surface anomalies point to a possible lithium brine horizon at depth, to be tested by drilling.

K

Potassium

Potash values up to ~1.8% K in surface samples; a by-product of brine operations.

B

Boron

Boron up to 4,830 ppm in the strongest anomaly; used in fertilizers and industry.

Rb

Rubidium

Detected consistently in 2024 samples (54–95 ppm); rare earths also detected and to be confirmed.

Regional evidence at depth: government (DGA) geophysics on the eastern border of the salar interpreted saline water and brine aquifers up to 40 m thick between about 80 and 200 m depth, with wells producing over 30 m³ per minute.

This is regional data, not drilling on Luna. No drilling has been done on the property yet and no mineral resources have been estimated.

What the sampling shows

Soil and sediment campaigns in 2019 and 2021, plus a 2024 verification visit, were analyzed by ALS Patagonia, a laboratory certified to ISO/IEC 17025. The strongest results sit in the western and central claims.

A focused land package

In September 2026 the owner concentrated the property on the claims holding the main anomalies, dropping peripheral areas with weak results.

Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) needs far less surface than traditional evaporation ponds, with reported recoveries above 90% in weeks instead of months. A compact, well-targeted property fits that model and lowers annual holding costs.

Location and access

Luna lies at 2,300–2,400 m on a gentle plain, surrounded by concessions held by SQM, Wealth Minerals and others.

Path to a lithium brine resource

The technical report recommends the following program to test the brine potential at depth.

  1. CommunitiesStart relations with local communities and agree the exploration plan
  2. MineralogyX-ray diffraction to understand the high-grade surface lithium
  3. GeophysicsSurvey to locate aquifers and brine horizons at depth
  4. DrillingDrill targets and pump tests to characterize the brine
  5. ResourceFirst NI 43-101 lithium brine resource estimate

Points to address

The report identifies matters to manage as the project advances.

Early stage

No drilling or resource estimate yet; the brine horizon is a hypothesis to be tested.

Protected area

Boundaries of the nearby Los Flamencos National Reserve should be confirmed.

Local communities

Early engagement with local Indigenous communities is recommended.

Luna is an early-stage exploration project: no drilling has been completed and no mineral resources or reserves have been estimated.
